Faculty Profile

Dr. Welch earned his Doctorate in Business Administration in Accounting from Argosy University and his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Administration from East Tennessee State University. His doctoral dissertation focused on the relative effectiveness of the various federal whistle-blower-protection laws.

Dave was the first person in history to be awarded whistleblower protection by a Federal judge under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.  As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Dave has a keen interest in business ethics.

As Adjunct Faculty in the Forensic Accounting and Business Forensics Programs at Franklin, Dr. Welch shares his extensive experience and personal knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley with students and often lectures on the subject for various organizations.

Dave is a member of the Advisory Board of Voices for Corporate Responsibility a Washington, DC based organization that serves as a resource for corporate professionals and executives who envision a stable American economy with corporations who are accountable to the American people.

Prior to  joining the faculty at Franklin, Dave taught accounting, finance, and strategic planning courses at the community college and university levels while working full-time in the corporate world.
