Dr. Williamson is the Department Chair of the Management and Marketing Department, and Program Chair of the Master of Science in Marketing & Communication (MCM) program. She has nearly 30 years of professional experience in the corporate, non-profit, and entrepreneurial sectors. After early positions in journalism and public relations, she began her marketing career in product management with The Procter & Gamble Co. She then moved into financial services marketing, rising to the position of Senior Vice President of Marketing for the largest retail affiliate of the Cleveland-based National City Corporation, where she managed the retail, corporate, trust, market research, advertising, public relations, telemarketing, sales support, product management, and service quality departments.
Dr. Williamson has been a marketing vice president for the credit card and national lending divisions of Bank One Corporation; vice president of marketing and resource development for one of the top two national United Way offices; and President and CEO of a United Way-funded agency. As an entrepreneur, Dr. Williamson founded a small business that provided comprehensive strategic marketing services to individuals and organizations in a wide variety of industries and endeavors.
Dr. Williamson has been a regularly-requested speaker and instructor at local, regional, and national conferences, professional schools, companies, events, and spiritual gatherings. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a concentration in marketing from The Ohio State University, a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Capital University Law School, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree (Ph.D.) in strategic marketing communication from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has received awards and accolades for her service on numerous community-centered boards and committees.
Dr. Williamson transitioned into academia to pursue her passion for teaching and learning. Before assuming her current position as a professor and the program chair of the M.S. in Marketing and Communication program at Franklin University, Dr. Williamson held the positions of Executive-in-Residence and Visiting Assistant Professor of Marketing in the College of Business at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
Dr. Williamson is a Columbus native. She is the mother of a teenage son.
