Dr. Waller joined the faculty of Franklin University in August 2006 after more than 20 years of experience teaching a broad range of sociology courses. Her earned doctorate in sociology was granted in 1982 from Washington State University where her areas of specialization were social psychology and social deviance, with a special interest in the sociology of mental health. In addition to becoming a tenured full professor at the University of Central Oklahoma, Dr. Waller has worked in the Research and Evaluation unit of the Texas Youth Commission and has been a researcher with the Department of Neurology at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center. Her current research interests relate to the consequences of increasing diversity in higher education. She is Lead Faculty for sociology and anthropology courses including those in research methods, workplace diversity, work and organizations, and social justice.
