Faculty Profile

Tom McClain has 35 years of experience in the Communications, Public Relations, and Public Affairs areas.  His areas of interest include corporate communications management and strategy, technology industry communications, public relations strategy, organizational communication, and marketing communications.

Prior to joining Franklin, he was Vice President for Corporate Communications at Battelle, where he retired from in 2006 after nearly 23 years of service.  McClain and his communications teams have received a variety of awards throughout the years, including several national and international awards for marketing communications products.

In 2009, he was named Arts and Sciences ”Teacher of the Year” at Franklin.  He has been listed in Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in the Media and Communications.  He frequently speaks to a variety of audiences on such topics such as business communications strategy, communications and leadership trends, and public relations strategy in the technology, energy, economic development, and environmental fields.

He received his B.A. from Case Western Reserve University and his M.A. from Kansas State University.
